Pico da Esperança, is a Portuguese parish located in Norte Grande, municipality of Velas, São Jorge, Azores Islands. This mountain owes its origin to a volcano located in the mountains that form the central mountain range of the island of S. Jorge and is the highest mountain of the island rising to 1053 meters of altitude.

This elevation is the highest in the island allows seeing sky days without fog a landscape that stretches for hundreds of miles around it. From the top of the volcanic cone sight to many others cliffs and the island of Faial and Pico in the south facing slopes and Terceira and Graciosa in the slope facing the north.

In its vicinity and along the central mountain range where falls are followed by all other mountains whose altitude is less prominent among them Montoso Peak, this mountain terminating the geological formations known as the Caves of Algar do Montoso.

Due to the characteristics of very rainy weather altitude is deeply involved in large clumps of hydrangeas, this island are used to divide the properties.

Still the highlight, and of prime importance is the existence of endemic plants, such as Tolpis azorica, Euphrasia grandiflora, or the "Breath of Ox" that presents visitors with its beauty and rarity.
